Immersion in a Fasting & Trek®

Do you find it difficult to fast even though you know it would be good for you?!

This is why Florian developed a simple solution: setting off with a backpack in a group to trek in the heart of nature.

One might think that during a fast, physical strength would wane, and it wouldn’t be wise, or even possible, to walk all day.
And yet…

The Fasting & Trek® is...

WATER FAST

A physical, mental & digital detox accompanied by a personalized purge.

Trek

Stages of varying difficulty, self-sufficiently, with overnight camping.

NATURE IMMERSION

An ideal natural setting to recharge and take stock of your life.

HYGIENIST PRACTICES

Reconnecting with the elements and discovering the main natural health practices.

UNIQUE CONCEPT

An initiative created by Florian Gomet following the expedition: “La Marche Sans Faim”.

GROUP EXPERIENCE

An unforgettable group experience where, nourished by exchanges, we forget the hunger.

Retreat Program

Between one and two months (depending on the format) before the Fast & Trek, you will receive advice by email to help you prepare, to facilitate the fast and optimize its benefits.

To ensure the trek goes as smoothly as possible, here are some recommendations on the physical and practical level:

  1. During the remaining weeks of preparation, gradually increase your training load in walking or running. Remember that all the endurance efforts you are capable of while eating, you will be able to do while fasting! The key is simply to be in good shape!

  2. At the end of this physical preparation (which will stop one week before D-Day, as it will then be the week of vitalization and dietary reduction), you must have AT MINIMUM completed two fasting outings (with or without a backpack) of X km in the same week. X representing the maximum number of daily kilometers for the format you have chosen. This distance should be reevaluated upwards (consider one flat kilometer for every 100m of elevation gain) if you are training with less elevation gain than announced for the trek.

One week before the fast, you must follow a dietary reduction (non-optional):

During the last week before the trek, the goal is to gradually reduce non-physiological foods for humans (see below) in order to perform an initial cleansing of the body. Without this, your body will have a lot to do during the first three days of the fast, with risks of unpleasant symptoms appearing quickly (headaches, nausea, dizziness, tachycardia, heartburn, cramps, skin rashes, anxiety, etc.) which could compromise the smooth running of the trek. This period of dietary reduction is important to facilitate entering the fast on both physical and psychological levels.

Also reduce your pace during this preparation, rest as much as possible, go for walks in nature, do stretches and conscious breathing.

The dietary reduction program:

D-7
Eliminate all refined and processed industrial products, refined salt, white or brown sugar and other industrial sugars, white bread, sodas, stimulants (tea, coffee, alcohol) as well as oils heated to high temperatures.

D-5
Also eliminate processed meats, meats, and fish. Eat raw or lacto-fermented vegetables, fruits, sprouted seeds, seaweed, a few legumes or whole grains if you feel the need.

D-4
Also eliminate other animal products (eggs, dairy, cheeses, etc.).

D-2
Finally, eliminate legumes, grains, and any products containing them (bread, pasta, rice, …), and nuts/seeds. Consume mainly fruits, vegetables, and greens, raw or in juice form, as desired.

D-1
You are expected the evening before the fast at 6 PM at the welcome location. Except for the Mont Blanc trek, it is possible to have dinner that evening (provided you bring your own food as it is not supplied by the organizer) and wait until the next morning to purge. If you are already fasting that evening, you can take a purge without waiting until the next morning.

Purge the evening before or in the morning around 8 AM

The purge is recommended to facilitate the fast through intestinal emptying and the lymphatic cleansing it triggers. To learn more about this, I suggest you read this article (click the link). If you wish to purge at the beginning, and possibly at the end, of the fast, it is up to you to bring:

  • 100 ml of castor oil, purchase by clicking here
  • 60 g of magnesium sulfate (also called Epsom salt), purchase by clicking here
I will explain on site how to use them (quantities, protocols, etc.) and which one to choose between the two if you are unsure.
For those who won’t have the necessary items, purgatives will be offered at a price of 10 €.

Departure around 9 AM

During the fasting days, in addition to walking, various activities may be offered: conscious breathing, mantras, forest bathing, cold baths in rivers and ponds (when available), sun gazing, sunbathing, and sauna (on certain F&T only).

In case of dropout or decision by the organizer (on this subject, read the program charter at the bottom of the page) during the trek, it is the participant’s responsibility to return by their own means (taxi, hitchhiking, etc.). No refund or discount will be granted.

The day and time of return to the welcome location vary depending on the chosen itinerary – see the program.

Unless otherwise stated, food reintroduction is at each individual’s initiative.
