America Extrema
A world first in the Far North thanks to hygienism
AMERICA EXTREMA is the complete crossing of North America by non-motorized means, from its easternmost point to its westernmost point. 15 months of solo adventures and 12,000 km by mountain bike, on foot and by kayak through the boreal forest, on both sides of the 60th parallel. Throughout this journey, true to his life philosophy, Florian ate vegan, practiced meditation, yoga and barefoot walking (during summer). In addition to completing an unprecedented crossing of North America, he is the first man to have crossed the Mackenzie Mountains in winter, solo and without motorized means.

For lovers of words
It was to embrace LIFE that I left my country, my family and my friends.
Was I right to impose this uprooting on myself? Will I be able to manage with just one meal a day, and vegan at that? Will I be able to walk barefoot in the boreal forest and cold water? Will practicing meditation daily make me a different man? What lessons will be learned? Surrounded as we are by environmental and social problems, will I find messages of hope?
I tell you all about it in my book.

America Extrema is not only 12,000 km, it is also a long human chain of which I had the privilege of being the common link. I share with you in these three volumes, available in pdf, my travel diary.
VOLUME 1
From my arrival in Montreal by plane with all my gear: backpack, bicycle, and kayak… to Lake Athabasca in Fort Chipewyan, Alberta, where I encountered another isolated Native American community.
VOLUME 2
From Fort Smith at John’s place, a former lumberjack from British Columbia, to Ross River, where I was spotted by a police officer and a mushroom picker who came by boat to rescue “the man on the other side of the river.”
VOLUME 3
After a stay in Ross River, I prepare to get back on the road for the final Canadian leg: Alaska, now just 700 km away—a week away by kayak.
