Retreat Program

One month before the “Fast for Change” retreat, you will receive email advice to help you prepare, making the fast easier and maximizing its benefits. You will also receive a shared carpool document at that time to facilitate your arrival.

For the fast to proceed under the best possible conditions, it is preferable that you complete hikes of 10-15 km (with approximately 400m of positive elevation gain) at least twice a week during the month preceding the retreat.

During the final week before the fast, the goal is to gradually reduce non-physiological foods for humans (see below) to initiate a preliminary cleansing of the body. Without this, your body will have a lot to handle during the first three days of the fast, with risks of unpleasant symptoms appearing quickly (headaches, nausea, dizziness, tachycardia, heartburn, cramps, skin rashes, anxiety, etc.), which could compromise the successful progress of the retreat. This period of dietary reduction is important to facilitate entering the fast on both physical and psychological levels.

Also, slow down your pace during this preparation period, rest as much as possible, go for walks in nature, do stretching and conscious breathing.

The dietary reduction schedule:

7 Days Before (D-7)
Eliminate all refined and processed industrial products, refined salt, white or brown sugar and other industrial sugars, white bread, sodas, stimulants (tea, coffee, alcohol) as well as oils heated to high temperatures.

5 Days Before (D-5)
Also eliminate processed meats, meats, and fish. Eat raw or lacto-fermented vegetables, fruits, sprouted seeds, seaweed, and a small amount of legumes or whole grains if you feel the need.

4 Days Before (D-4)
Also eliminate other animal products (eggs, dairy, cheeses, etc.).

2 Days Before (D-2)
Finally, eliminate legumes, grains, and any products containing them (bread, pasta, rice, …), and nuts/seeds. Consume mainly fruits, vegetables, and greens, raw or in juice form, as desired.

You are expected from 5:00 PM at the welcome location (the exact location will be communicated later). At 6:00 PM, the presentation of the retreat week will begin.

An optional purge (read the practical fasting guide on this subject) will be offered in the evening and the following morning.

7:30 AM to 9:00 AM: Wake-up with a morning routine composed of various (optional) activities such as yoga, meditation, conscious breathing, joint mobility, or sungazing.
9:00 AM to 9:30 AM: Sharing circle
9:30 AM to 10:30 AM: Free time
10:30 AM to 1:30 PM: Hike with various (optional) hygienic practices such as barefoot walking, cold baths, or forest bathing.
2:00 PM to 5:00 PM: Free time and sauna
5:00 PM to 6:30 PM: Theoretical workshop (in Q&A format) on hygienism & living nutrition OR Vipassana meditation workshop.
Evening: Documentary film or mantra chanting or partner massages.

7:30 AM to 9:00 AM: Morning routine with closing circle.
