Day 29 – On the island of Reunion
Following some synchronicities, particularly with the numbers 3 & 7, I booked a plane ticket to the island of Reunion – 3 days before departure – for a stay of 3X7 days on the island of Reunion. I felt the need to leave the cold and grayness of the mainland to spend Christmas in the tropics with plenty of exotic fruits.
Two days after my arrival, I embarked on the trek of the Diagonal of the Fools (the GR R2) where I experienced 8 days of great intensity to cross the island of Reunion 🌋 (from south to north) and its multiple paradisiacal and astonishing biotopes (the island alone is as rich in diversity as the entire Hawaiian archipelago). 🌴🐸🌞
130 km in sandals (including part barefoot), 8000m of ascent, 7000m of descent, all while eating only the fruits and vegetables found along the way (plus a few nuts and dried fruits I brought along), and practicing nasal breathing even on the infernal slopes.
8 difficult days on demanding terrain while managing a significant detox crisis like I rarely have had 😅… but with the reward of encountering the treasures of this island in the best way possible: on foot. 🦶 8 days of tumultuous introspection like the landscape, a Diagonal of the Fools that was undoubtedly necessary before returning to the straight line😆.
After following the magical and intense trek that crosses the island of Reunion, my body demanded 10 days of rest that I was happy to spend at the center “Living Naturally” – dedicated to Living Nutrition and hygienist practices – that Fabrice Benard is currently bringing to life. Between sun-soaked exotic fruits, sea water baths among the colorful fish that inhabit the coral, cold baths in the freezer, naps, readings, meditation, yoga, singing, and dancing, this is how I spent the Christmas holidays 🎄, far from indigestible meals and the unconscious wastefulness that serves as our tradition to generate conviviality…🙃
These three weeks on this paradisiacal island 🌴🌞 (rich in 110 microclimates) have recharged my batteries and I am now ready to return to France to spend the winter and the new year which will joyfully start with the New Year’s Eve and New Year organized by Claude Brame 🙏✨❤️.
